17 Jun Celebrating Baby Bailey #2
There’s something about maternity photos that I’ve come to love. Mind you, I didn’t even want to do one in the first place but when Teko shared his perspective on the whole thing and how much he celebrated not just the baby but also the body it was in, I figured why not give it a shot.
I don’t know about other moms but through both pregnancies I believe I’ve been able to instinctually feel the personality of the little lives within…and comparing the emotions and creative outcome of the two photoshoots, I feel like both of these babies have been captured.
With Kalino, it was this exuberant joy, the beach, sunlight, frolicking, happily with my toes in the sand. To have done any other shoot wouldn’t have done him justice and just look at him now, he’s the epitome of a walking sunbeam.
This baby though, it was different. It’s not that I didn’t feel joy, it was a more subdued kind. He felt covered, deep emotions, like being in the middle of the rain and not bothered by it and completely present to people, time and things happening around him. Funnily enough, he feels like more of a mover than Kalino whose personality would probably make you think that way.
I recognize that while the photos have us in them, they represent so much more. They mirror the season both of these babies have grown in, their personalities and a reflection on where we’re going as a family. There’s something wonderfully prophetic about the whole thing and I can’t wait to see this baby come to life and how our lives are going to be made better by it.
